Kent has long been considered the "Garden of England",with a strong history of growing hops, apples, pears and of course cherries. The cherry crops were so abundant that local hosteleries took to brewing cherry ale and brandy. Sadly, those majestic sixty foot tall trees are almost a thing of the past. The Romans brought garlic, onions, shallots, leeks, cabbages, peas, celery, turnips, radishes, and asparagus to our shores, along with a wide range of herbs:- rosemary, thyme, bay, basil and savoury mint. These were used in brewing and for medicinal purposes. With the introduction of new farming practices, grain could be grown on a larger scale. Bread became an important part of the British diet, and continues to be so.Produced in Kent - Cherry blossom trails
