The sale of homemade cakes and jams are not going to kill you!
Volunteer cooks and charity groups who occasionally prepare food for good causes can now benefit from this new ruling.
In essence, the guidance is "There is no rule banning the sale of homemade cakes at school fetes or other community events."
"Organisations which provide food less than once a month do not have to register their activities. Only organisations serving hot food regularly, who cater for the under-fives or the elderly or are involved in large-scale events need to be registered."
So, homemade jams and chutneys can be stored in recycled jars at fetes, raffles and markets - and your school fete flapjacks, charity fund raising tea parties and Brownies brownies are back on the menu.
